ReplyDeleteIn the book the giver, Joan’s society gets everything at the same time. When I say by gets everything at the same time I mean like, they all get bikes, cars, and jobs at the same time. There are some positives and negatives to this. Here are some positives. One positive is that the community won’t have any starvation or homeless people. Another positive is that is all kids get things at the same time. When I say things I mean like bikes, cars, and jobs. Now here are some negatives. One negative is that when your twelve, you have to get a job. That means you don’t get to see your friends that often. That’s what I mean that Jonas’s society gets everything at the same time.

ReplyDeleteIn the book Giver, the community has sameness. Sameness is where everybody gets the same thing, they each get a bike at the same time, or a job at the same time. Some advantages that they might have is that they won't go poor. There won't be any competition or jelousy. Another advantage is that their won't be any fighting over what they got, because the kids get everything at the same time. They get a bicycle at nine years old, they have to get a job at the age of twelve. When they don't have a job they have time to hangout with their friends instead of sitting their working. Some disadvantages are that when they get a job they won't have time to hangout with their friends because they will have to work. Another one is that after they have the ceremony of twelve they dont't have anymore ceremonies. That is the advantages and disadvantages of having sameness in their community.

ReplyDeleteHaving a perfect community can have advantages and disadvantages. Some advantages would be like since every one receives something at the same time there would be no fighting over if someone has something you don't. You wouldn’t have to worry about what someone else has that they would brag about. There would be no bullying or negative people. No one would have to change their self to fit in because if it was a perfect community then no one would really care what you like or how you do things. You could be as free as you what and not have to worry. You wouldn’t have to worry about if you're going to be able to make the next payment it would be all taken care of. The climate would be controlled so you would never have to worry about stepping outside and it being freezing cold or way to hot out. kids would always have another kid to play with that is their age. Because at the ceremony's they have every one there that is the same age as them. In The Giver they have a perfect community no one is out of place everyone is happy there and everything is positive no negatives.

ReplyDeleteThere are many advantages in having a sameness community. In the book The Giver, at nine years old everyone gets a bike. No one would get in fights about what each person has. It would do away with jealously. They share there feelings with their family, so your parents know exactly how they feel. There are disadvantages in this community. In The Giver, the parents have to give the babies to the nuturing center and then they have to sign an agreement to adopt a baby and they can't keep their baby. This is not right. The ceremonies go up to ages 1 to 12. The ceremony of 1 is were you get your name, you can't even name your own baby. In the ceremony of 12 they assign you a job based on your personality. You should be able to choose your own job based on what your really good at and really want to do. That would be bad if I lived in that community because I would not fit in.

ReplyDeleteIn the book at nine years old every kid gets a bike. At twelve the kids get a cerimony of twelve and also get trianed on what kind of ob the get. If all kids get the same thing then there will be on complants. At the age of nine every kid has to give up his or her stuffed animal that they sleep with. Everyone has the same colored eyes. The rule of have kids is only one female and one male. In the community ther will be no jealisy and no arguing with the childern. It would be good to have "sameness" becuase everything will be a better place. The community would be quieter plase for people to live in. Noboby around here would fit in .

ReplyDeleteHaving the same in everything could lead to curiosity amongst the civilians. People could start to start break the rule for everything to be following by a certain law(s), because of beliefs in others. Like for example; the law of only have 2 children, a daughter and son, some civilians might find that of a small family, and adopt, have another child. Without diversity, pretty much everything would be the same. During school everything would be rounded up to the same, so everyone would get the same scores or grades. For example, all sports are usually people competing against each other, so sports like soccer, football, basketball, and others would not have a point in playing worth. If I was a basic human being in the story or life of ‘The Giver’, I would be questioned about why everything is so alike in everything pretty much. I would probably never have heard of many sports at all, from this community, so that might be a concern towards me. You could consider basically no freedom at all, like ruled by a dictator, or no government president. There really is no such thing as a perfect world, because people have different beliefs and emotions. So even if the township was like that, people could start a riot against the people in charge of it. Thus it would lead to failure in leader ship, and could cause harm and destruction towards others. If I were in a ‘perfect community’, I would not find it perfect at all.

ReplyDeleteThe Giver’s community is like everything is given to all the people at a certain age. What I mean is that when someone turns 9 and all the other kid’s turn 9 they all get bikes. This could be good and bad because there are certain rules you have to follow in the community. Some rules can be easily broken like bragging and if you break this rule you will be punished. People can talk about there successes without breaking the rule of brag so for example if you get a Nintendo Wii. Every kid will get one! So it would be so boring if every body would have the same thing. But then again it would be good because you would get the same thing at the same time. So really it would be boring and good at the same time. John Kurek P.2

ReplyDeleteI, myself, find many things wrong with being the same, there is also some good things. There would be no greed,so there would be no stealing. With no competiotion, there would be no fueds, or fights. In a way,it would be good, but it would also be lifeless, and boring.People would be more nice to one another. They would be more peace in the world. There would be no more war,or hate.Everybody has an recorded role in the society, so there is no fighting, or competition to get a job. This could be good, but it makes one think. There would also be no pain. This is what I think of a utopia, and all being the same.

ReplyDeleteThese are the advances of having the “sameness” in a community. For sameness I mean that everyone dresses the same, everyone likes one another, and they like the same things. That no one will get made fun of because everyone will be dressed the same. By having the same clothes no one will be able to brag about their outfit. No one will be able to compete because everyone will have the same likes. There will always be friendships because everyone will like each other. Nobody will be made fun of because everyone is like the same. Anger will not be a problem because everyone likes each other. Jealously will never happen because everybody will have the same things, so there’s nothing to have jealousy over. Sameness would be a good thing in a community.

ReplyDeleteIn the book the giver., everyone gets the same thing but at a certain age. In the family their can only be a boy and a girl, and they were not aloud to get anymore. The mom does not get to have the baby or name him/her, the house of the elders pick the name of the new child. No one can look at the names of the new children and if you do u are breaking a law they have. If you break a rule u will go to court and if they break more then 3 laws you will get released. They have ceremonies to say when you can have things or when you have to get rid of something. Like, when to ride a bike, what assignment you get, and so on. You really don’t have a voice in what to do and say. They do everything for you. In the book the giver everything is perfect. No competition and no jealousy. And the cops would not have to carry any weapons. They don’t hang out or play with their friends when they are working. Everyone is happy, nice, and caring. there are no fights and no bullying. And when they go to school they behave, and care about everything they are given. Everyone lives the same life but simple things are different.

ReplyDeleteSome advantages for “sameness” in the community would include there being no fights. So if there is no competition than there is no fighting or rivalry. That can be good in some cases and bad in others. For example they have limits and rules that keep everything safe and calm. This happens because when someone breaks the law they will be released from the community. That will keep the community running smoothly without any issues. Those are mainly the only advantages I can think of. That is because I don’t really like the idea of a community without competition. I believe that we need competition because without that there would be no sports, stores, singing, and dancing because those are all in different ways, competitions. And I cannot imagine life without competition.

ReplyDeleteIn the book the Giver there are advantages and disadvantages of having the sameness. An advantage is that there are no fighting, jealousy, and bragging. Since everyone is basically the same no one every worries about what to wear or being bullied. Some disadvantages are that you don’t get to pick your assignment. Also you don’t get to have more than 2 children a female and a male. And everyone as a child has to have the same number of volunteer hours. Everyone has to do every activity, and everyone has to share their feelings and dreams. At certain ages different age groups celebrate different things. There also are many rules in the book the giver. If you break the rules three times you are released. Everyone basically lives the same life expect they can have different assignments. That is some disadvantages and advantages.

ReplyDeleteThere are several ways that a community in which every person and his or her experience is precisely the same can be an advantage for a community. Climate control and eliminating competition will lead to a perfect community. There are several advantages of each.
There are many advantages of climate control. If you wanted to go to the beach and it is raining you can make it a sunny day. Also, if you are at a football game and it is snowing, you can make it warmer. You could also make it rain and make it sunny for your crops to grow.
One advantage of eliminating competition is that it will end the fighting and arguing in football and boxing because it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Another advantage is that people won’t get angry and fight over losing a game. The list can go on and on.
These are just a few ways to make a community better. Wouldn’t it be great if we could control our environment and weather.
